Introduce Yourself...

Been here for almost 20 years although I think in the late 90 there was an earlier version of BE run by Les.

Homeport is Miami, FL and home is a 1970 Hatteras 53 MY which is undergoing a multi year full refit incl repower, layout redesign, and pretty much everything else incl AC, wiring, plumbing, stabs, etc.

To say that BE changed my life is pretty accurate as back in 2008 I was contacted by a member who needed help finding and buying a 70 footer. This lead to a full time job on the boat (and the famous Miami Nantucket webcam thread...). Then after 8 years, the boat sold and we moved on to running an 84 Lazzara for one of our charter guests from the 70

we spend a lot of time in the Exumas, doing charters there with the 84

finally the other boats are a 26’ classic gaff rigged daysailor which I designed and built in 2011-2013 and a little 12’ catboat we bought back in 2009 from its builder

Niles Waring. Been a member of BE since 2005. A that time kids were out of college and it was time to get back into boating. We re-started with a Rinker FV250. We traveled all over Lake Erie in that boat. In '08 we moved up to a Mainship 36DC and cruised Lake Erie, Onterio and Huron quit a bit until 2017. In 2015 we bought a 22' Angler for fishing and play, this boat gets used a lot in the summers. Last fall (2020) we bought 2021 NauticStar 211 Hybrid as our Florida fishing/play boat. The Mainship and Angler live in Ashtabula Ohio. Cruising in the Mainship has really slowed down the last 4 years but we do live a board it for 4 to 5 months in the summer. In 2015 we bought a condo in Punta Gorda Fl and starting in late 2017 we spend 7 to 8 months here.

Been a member for many years. We mostly boat on the Ohio River about 50 miles east of Cincinnati.

We had a 1989 Sundancer 268 for 20 years until we bought a 1999 Formula 260ss this past summer.

The new site looks good.

Full-time Florida living for a few years now. Love living with the the beach and boat steps away.

After many boats now have a 30ft Pursuit express which we mostly fish but do cruise and dock/dine.

I need to get some pictures - currently own a 99 Wellcraft Excalibur bowrider, which I bought new in 99. Generally boat in the upper Chesapeake eastern shore in May and June, and Jersey Shore ( Avalon) in July and August. To keep busy during the covid lockdowns, I bought ( sort of acquired) a somewhat abandoned 1977 Sabre 28 Sailboat. Hope to have her in the water sometime this summer, but still have a lot of work to do.

Over the years of Boatered I've had a 30' Pacemaker, a 21' American Skier, and a 40' Jersey Sportfisherman.

I think my kids have lost interest in boating, as they've suddenly hit their teenage years. Probably means you'll see me out there by myself now!
If they are encouraged to bring their boyfriends/ girlfriends that could change.

Wow the site looks great! Thanks to everyone that is helping continue the site. I grew up along the coast of NC in Wrightsville Beach. My Dad always had a boat there and we docked just south of the green drawbridge. Then we moved to Ohio for his job and the boat was sold and we never had another one until I bought a 1995 20' Starcraft bowrider to use on the inland lakes near Columbus. After taking it to Lake Erie a few times I realized I "needed" a bigger boat so I sold the Starcraft and bought a 1986 Silverton 34C that I had for 18 years. I sold her almost 3 years ago and moved up to a 1995 41C Silverton and love. I keep Jetlag in Huron Ohio at Holiday Harbor Marina. IMG_1006.JPG

Wow That Hatt gets up and movess with the new engines.

I'm Bill, live in Charlotte NC and boat on Lake Norman. Grew up boating on a small mountain lake in western NC where my family had a cabin - small ski boats, a Correct Craft and my grandfathers 1948 Chris Craft. After moving to Charlotte, I bought a SeaRay cruiser that we kept at a marina on Lake Norman, then later another cabin on Lake Tillery NC. More recently I have found a small day boat kept in dry storage best suits my boating these days. For me, any day and any way on the water is good - with friends or just buzzing around alone it does not matter. As long as I can move and remember my name I can't imagine not having a boat of some type.

Our sons (22 and 23) will gladly spend a day on the water tubing, swimming, etc. What kills me is when they want to take the boat out on their own. They can handle it, and I trust them, but it just makes me feel old... ☹️

I feel your pain, Brian. I’ve got 3 sons. (35 & 2 are 40). Luckily 1 has their own boat. Another, I had to hide my boat keys, and the 3rd wants to go every weekend—there are 5 of them. If the Admiral & I want any peace & quiet, we have to boat during the week.

I’m Mike. Retired USCG Surfman, after running Motor Lifeboats (44’s and 47’s) and countless other boats for 21 years. Now a fair weather boater - if it’s not warm, sunny, and calm, I don’t even take the cover off my little 18’ boat. I had a long spree of buying and selling boats from an 11’ inflatable with an 8HP outboard (wish I never sold it - that was a fun little boat for finding an unoccupied stretch of beach or scallop or lobster diving, or just drifting around reading a book), a 30’ Sea Ray at one point, 22’ Catalina for a bit that I had a bad habit of pushing limits with, and all kinds of other project boats. Content for now with my nice simple skiff. Very little to go wrong, very simple to fix if it does. The easy boating life!

Ray Randall (Pigmeister) here. Been on this site for decades.
Retired TWA Capt.
Had a 24' Monterey and a small fishing boat at Lake of the Ozarks. After my late Wife passed I had
to sell the condo and boats. Miss them terribly.

My daughter, Sarah and her hubby moved to LOTO a few months ago and are saving up for a boat.

I hear you on that one! Mike, my 19 year old thinks he's ready to take my boat out, in the river current, on his own (meaning with a friend or two). I Don't think so!

Yikes, that's a whole other level Steve...

I'm on here daily! When did you retire? Where did/are you moving to--if at all?
