Has anyone brought a handheld VHF radio on a cruise to listen to what the bridge is saying?

Would only receive, not transmit.

I think they were using 77 on a cruise we did recently. Crew on a shore excursion (hike) had one to call the tender for us.

iT works great for us. We use Channel 71. It's very helpful when we are docking. We can talk to each other easily without yelling at each other.
This is much less expensive than buying the headsets.

Due to delayed flights we made it to Heathrow but then determined that we could not get to Greece before the ship sailed. We flew back home.

I am hearing communications on 13 but it's in Greek. We are in Athens.

Wow. Were the flights arranged by the cruise company and what happened? I am thinking if they booked the flights a future cruise credit happened and that's why you are there now?

We were told that Princess Cruises would "take care of us". We were refunded $$ for shore excursions we had booked through Princess. We expect either a refund for the air fare and cruise fare or future cruise credit. Apparently it takes awhile for them to do that. So not yet. We are on almost the same cruise now and had to pay for it as the cruise credits had not come through when we booked the cruise we are on.

It looks like significant advantages to booking air flights through the cruise company.
