The admiral wanted fresh fish tonight so I hit the water at 3:00am. Lost a nice nice flounder right at the boat on my second cast. Picked up a slot speck shortly after that. Slot size is 15" - 22". We are allowed one speck over the slot size. Caught a few more keepers and then landed a speck that I figured was outside the slot, but I figured I would make it my one over keeper. Then I got into a few more outside the slot so I released them. Anyway, the admiral gets her fresh fish supper. I get to clean and cook the fish. btw-- she has not seen the blood in her baby whaler😄😄😄

Speck-tacular!

I thought Speck referred to Crappie? What is that guy?

Nice fish, but you do realize that you might be teased mercilessly for those Crocs, right? ;)

Speckled Trout, Spotted Seatrout, similar(samefamily) to the more northern east coast weakfish I believe. If memory serves me specks have spots into the fins and weakfish do not.

As for the crocs, my old feet need the padding. I had a bad case of plantar fasciitis awhile back and the doc said no more bare footin' for me.

Yup...I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot...when it flares up my Crocs are the best thing for it...

Yes, in much of the mid-Atlantic and northeast, they are called Weakfish (Because hooks tear the mouth more easily than other speicies). Occasionally called Sea Trout, but not a true trout. In Rhode Island, they were called Squeteague (Narragansett Indian word). I caught a lot of 8-10 pounders as a kid up there.

I thought he caught one of these

dang, I had to search to find out that is ham. Why don't they just say "ham"..?

Seriously smoked ham. I love smoking my meals.

Love me some specs. Good job taking care of the admiral. Maybe she will ignore the bloody boat since you got supper as requested.

Nah.......better get it cleaned up before she see it.. :)

BTW-- When fishing for toothy critters it is best not to have your toes exposed......

Sounds about right...my buddy Kirk and I once pulled in a big toothy cuda on his boat, he flipped off the hook onto the deck and proceeded to flop around trying to bite anything he could reach...including our bare feet...picture two big guys standing up on the gunwales waiting out the breakdancing show. neither willing to step down and try to grab that toothy bastard...

Dang, can't slip one past y'all, nobody approved my croc sandals/flipflops!

Au Contrear---or however the French spell it!
I liked the mesh Crocs in the 1st pic & went looking for them. Would you believe there are 190 men's Crocs on their web site, and none of them looked like that!
The Admiral took it upon herself to find them for me. Turns out that Amazon has them. Listed as "Crocs Men's Swiftwater Mesh Deck Sandals"
They'll be delivered today.
Thanks for the lead. I sure hope they're comfy.

Ordered a pair as well. I prefer barefoot and wear flipflops a lot but there are those times when I want something a little more 'secure' but haven't found a good sandal I like. These look like they will match what I've been trying to find. (y)

The flipflops are croc's but nobody caught that one.

Crocs or not---I hate flipflops that go between my toes. Hurts like hell.
I hope these new Crocs will replace my deck shoe addiction for the more casual times.
