12V light fixture for '82 3007 aft cabin

One of my boat's 12V reading lights has a crack in the cylindrical-shaped lens/shade. Any ideas on where I could get one of these? They're old school fixtures but I kinda like 'em.

I wonder if Carver would be any help, but maybe you've already tried them...?
 
if you remove the base can you find a makers label??
 
Ooooohhhh, that's what they used to look like. What do you know. Mine aren't original after all -- I suspected they weren't. The ones I have now are made by Aquasignal, ridiculously expensive for a cheap plastic eyeball reading light. I'm replacing them with brass, dimmable lights that fit the original style better. Anyway, when I replaced the light covers on the aft cabin head, those simple rectangular 12-volt, RV style light fixtures, turns out they were manufactured by Progressive Dynamics. Progressive Dynamics still makes parts and lights, I got an exact match. I don't know if those berth lights are from Progressive Dynamics too, but you might give that a try on Google and see what you get.

If you hop onto ebay and search 12v brass reading light you'll get a pile of nice choices. I'm installing these, they fit the boat's style much better than the black plastic aquasignal eyeballs I have now:

Those are nice but if you want illumination beyond reading they don't cut it.

I also called Rich Brown at Carver who looked in the archives but could not find any information.

You are correct on both comments. yes, they are VERY old school. But, then again, so is my boat and I like them. :)

I dont get the affinity for old fashoned bad lighting. Change to somethingthat works and uses less power.

I replaced all of my bulbs with LEDs. Still looks "Old School", sort of like I do. But the lighting is more than adequate.

Bob, what LED replacement lamps did you use? Finding ones with the correct base is tricky. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the bases for the reading lights: 15mm bayonet dual contact indexed (BAY15D indexed)? Were you able to find lamps that provided a nice warm yellow illumination suitable for reading?

Got them at superbrightleds dot com. The ones you want are with the 1142 base. They have a wide range of brightnesses and colors. I prefer the warm white.

Been to that site previously. Did you get the tower ones with 18 or 45 LEDs?
