2004 Regal 3880

The one you were looking at, was that at Pat's Boats?
I looked at that one.
There is another one for sale at Searay in Cincinatti, also a 2003.
Then there is a 2006 for sale in Michigan at Gross Pointe.
Let me know if you need more info.
I have a list of every one for sale and the price they will take.

Actually, the one I was looking at was at Skipper Bud's. They were asking $185k. The boat was an absolute steal.

Do you know if any of the boats you have looked at will accept a trade, or are they all brokered boats? Any insight on this--as well as pricing--is appreciated!

Thanks!

Pat's Boats in Loraine offered me my boat plus $105, so if my boat is $75, then that values it at $180K for a 2003.
The would take a trade.

The one in Michigan was gonna take a trade and he wanted $235K, he was down to my boat plus $150K.

Thanks for this information. Have you been aboard the boat that Pat's has? I was on it at the show this week and didn't make it past the cockpit. It looks to be in pretty rough shape (bolsters were faded and torn, etc). Of course, I had the intention of buying the other one, so I didn't look at it too closely, but it seems that it was not very well taken care of. Just my two cents...

Good luck in your search! I'm not restriced by beam, etc. like you are so I am likely to expand my search to other flybridge boats as well. I have the entire off-season to check things out! My favorite boat is a Silverton 38C, but I just can't find any used ones in the Great Lakes area.

I was never on Pat's boat.
What about the 42C for sale on here?
Nice boat.

Well, as it turns out, the 3880 I was looking at back in September is back on the market. The guy who put in an offer could not get the financing to work out. I will be looking at this again next month.

CurrentSea... you mentioned that you looked at the boat in Cincinnati when you were shopping. Any information worth sharing on that boat? I am having a hard time getting them to call me back right now, but I do like the boat (aside from the high hours).

Thanks!

I did not look at one in Cinncinatti.
I looked at the following:
- 2 in Tennassee
- 3 in Florida
- 1 in NJ
- 1 in St. Louis

I purchased the one in St. Louis.
Not sure if you can send emails, no anchor. I have info on alot of boats I made offers on.
What are your must haves?
What price?
There is still some great deals out there.

CurrentSea - Did you buy yours from Lewis? That boat was a dealer boat from Dan's boats - The owner of Dan's boats used it on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. It's a nice boat. The owner of Dan's boats - was a nice guy - they just got hit hard by the downturn. When they closed - Lewis picked up Regal.

Congrats. That is a nice boat - I had taken a tour of it on the water and also saw it running on the water a few times.

That's the boat! Its still new, untitled. He used it very little.

All he did was typically take it to popular transient marinas and leave it - with a banner on the side advertising Dan's Boats - if he stayed on it three times I would be surprised. He went out of business over the winter of 07/08 - so in 08 it sat all season. He was very particular with the boats - so it was never abused. There is an 01 - 3780 that is in MO - through Marine Max. They are neat boats. I almost bought a boat out of Lindenhurst in 07.

Now that I have the hots for this boat, I am trying to learn what I can about one. Has anyone done a mod to the unhinged engine compartment cover to make it easier to open and close?

Thanks,

JD

Never gave that much thought JD. When I need it opened I usually want it completely out of the way anyhow so I just rest it against the transom. Even with my wide body I can go in the center area, and crawl around the aft end of the engine to reach anything I have stored along the starboard side. Be careful putting it back down though, the first time I did it my stomach get pinched between the floor brace and the floor. THAT will never happen again!

I have diesels in my boat which has an oil dip stick on both sides of the engine so even checking fluids doesn't require that area to be opened.

The 2007 has hinged engine hatches. Take a look at a 2007 to see the design and copy it.

All 3 Dave?

The center and port side has always been hinged. As far as I know the starboard floor has always been unhinged.

Come to think of it your right, just the port side and center was hinged on my 2007.
But on the 3800 I don't recall any hinges.
But I think on the 2008 model all 3 are hinged.

Any idea which way it swings Dave? Going over it in my mind and I'm not sure it would even be possible with the exception of perhaps swinging towards the transom.

Swing towards starboard is not possible because of the curved wall. Swing towards center is possible but where would you stand to do the swinging? Hinged towards the transom would be one heavy ass sucker!

I need to find a 2008 and check this as you have me wondering.

Thanks a lot for the feedback folks. Rommer, I am glad to hear the lack of hinges has not been a problem. Unfortunately, I have to sell a boat before I can get serious about a 3880 I have my eyes on. Anyone need a really nice 2003 Regal 3060 (in Tennessee)?
