32 Montego Cabin Entry

I viewed a couple of 32 Montego's this weekend. Two had a black lightweight plastic cover over the horizontal opening for the cabin. One had a heavy fiberglass cover that slid under the helm.

Can anyone that has/had a 32 Montego share your thoughts with the one versus the other? Is one easier than the other to use as a door to keep the AC air in the cabin?

The one I saw with a fiberglass cover was very heavy and I don't think some of my guests could manage that. The black plastic ones were worn pretty well and looked rough.

Hi Jim, as noted in the 2757 Montego door issue, I would stay away from the sliding top or be ready to replace it with a folding flip top soon.

I had the sliding door on my Montego 3257. It was heavier than the flip up. With mine you needed to lift up a little then slide it under the helm. Not a big deal. It also kept the AC in much better and kept the heat out.

Why do you say stay away from them?
 
Just because we had alot of service issues with them Bob...Carver actually paid for alot of them to be replaced with the flip/fold style they replaced it with.
