I have a 1983 3207. I am looking for the piece that clips the swim platform ladder to the transom ladder when its swung up. Does anyone have a picture of this part or know where I can find it?

Thanks

That's a funny coincidence. We have a 1983 3207 too, and I just finished replacing all the cracked and splitting teak treads in the after deck (transom) ladder, and replacing the black rubber/plastic tread that was missing from the last rung of the lower ladder. The black plastic tread I found at the Ft Pierce Marine surplus store and used JB Weld and c-clamps to hold it while it set. The wooden treads were a different story -- boy what a job. Never could find 19" x 2-7/8 x 1.25" thick replacement treads so I had to fabricate them, grooves and all. I also had to take the rails to a welding shop to have all the holes filled. The bonehead previous owner apparently stripped the setscrews in the rail fittings so they wouldn't tighten, so he drilled extra holes and screwed in some plain old pan-head machine screws - mild steel of course so they rusted. Had to replace all the fittings, but luckily the welding shop did a great job on the swiss cheese rails so I didn't have to replace those, custom-formed for the boat as they were. As to your question though, I didn't know there was a clip. If we're going to be underway in rough water we usually just wrap a short bungee around the rails so that ladder doesn't flop down unintentionally. There's supposed to be a clip for it??

Here is what the clip looks like on the swim ladder of my 1982 3007 aft cabin:

It's probably the same on your 3207.

Thanks! I figured it was one of those but for some reason on my ladder its dead center in the middle of the tread not off to the side like yours. Its broken off on one tread and the other half is gone.It had me wondering what the hell they used that could be right in the middle that wouldn't hurt to step on barefoot. Thanks again!

OR....
In the case of my 3607AC (similar ladder design) I found a chrome hook online similar to above BUT narrower, and vertically mounted on the sides of the same wood tread (rotated 90 deg from pic above). Takes away any chance of toes snagging it, keeps the water from collecting on top (easier run-off), and leverages gravity to keep the hook latched (as opposed to potential horizontal movement due to vibration).

This is what the latch should look like on a 3207. Clearly a tool of the devil.
