i am looking at a 2002 Sedan bridge and wondering if anyone has any comments on the boat. How does it drive and handle in ruff seas ? Boat has Man 1050 horsepower in it

If you are a serious buyer and not just a dreamer, make an offer with a boat survey and a sea trial as conditions. That way you will find out about handling for yourself before you commit to the purchase.

Good luck!

At this time of year it can be hard to test drive a boat in our area. Most boats are on land till the spring.

Mans are not cheap too maintain... I did some research earlier this year while helping an owner in the purchase process and maintenance /parts can be much higher than Cats.

I think it's no secret that these boats are not designed for rough seas, if this is important to you, make sure you'll be happy with the handling. obviously, it depends on what you mean by rough seas and how you will use the boat.

SRs have typically crowded engine rooms, make sure that model doens't and that everything is accessible.

Bob, I'm not sure that size boat will be able th handle the heavy seas in Haverstraw Bay, you need to go bigger.

He wants to be able to get to Block Island on less than perfect days Mike.

BTW - the boat is in incredible condition from the pictures I have seen.

This is the boat that has the Sea Leg Stabilizers I asked about in ATC. Not finding out much about them thou.

Service on MAN engines up in Stony Point is non existent. You will be shelling out real big money to even get a guy to come to the dock, if they even decide to come.

Chances are you will have to take the boat out to the Island, CT or South jersey to get any major service.

The Sea Legs look like they would become an issue with debris in the water, plus if you anchor in shallow water you might hit bottom with them.

If you can't get to Block Island in a 56', then you should really stay at the dock that day. I'm sure it can make it to Bowline on even the roughest days though....

In my opinion if you can't get to Block on a 40' you should stay where you are!

40'??????...........a 20' Bow Rider is all you need !!

I own the 2006 version of this boat. I'm not sure what changes were made along the way, but would be happy to discuss with you via pm or phone. I have the newer 900 hp MANS and am happy with them. With begger engiens this boat must really fly (and burn fuel).

thank you all, some great comments from all of you. Yes my 2 major concerns are what all of you posted which are 1) local MAN service / cost 2) SR engine space which is never very much. I don't go out in really rough seas.... but plan for the worse and hope for the best when it comes to traveling in heavy water. i realize SR are not designed for rough weather but at 50,000lbs ya got to believe it will handle heavey water, If anyone has owned one or can point me to talk to someone I would appreciate it. I have one contact so far.... tks
