If the weather holds for Saturday (rain day Sunday)I'm taking a day cruise up the Hudson. Always my favorite scenic route to see. If you're out Call Lady M I'm on Ch 72.
I'd guess leaving Staten Island about 10 AM tide be damned I didn't look?

How far up are you going?

Weather permitting, we'll be anchored in Croton or Bowline. We monitor channel 69

69? I knew you were a little kinky :)
I'm not sure how far up? It will depend on the groups speed tolerance? At about 18 knots dishes & pickies begin to fly off the tables? They like to go sloooooooooooooooooow. I'd guess we should get to about Haverstraw area?

Hogan, I just checked & Croton is right across from Haverstraw or in Haverstraw Bay. Where is Bowline?

Bowline is about a mile south of Haverstraw, on the same side. Many boaters unfamiliar with Haverstraw have come in to Bowline (or tried) by mistake.

I see the water is pretty skinny at Bowline & even Croton? I need a 5-ft draft but even that's too low & may suck up sand. I'll call you on 69 as we get close. What's you call sign?

Capt. Art, frankly, forget about Bowline, you can get in pretty close at Croton and still be in anywhere from 7-10' of water without any risk at all.

For locals, Croton or Bowline is usually a south wind vs north wind choice. Without that local knowledge, Croton or Bowline becomes a my props are fine vs I need to repair them anyway decision.

Seriously, as John said above, forget about Bowline and it's tricky entrance and very poor holding conditions. If you want to anchor out as long as the wind isn't from the west or north west Croton is a much nicer place.

Try calling either Hogan as Hogan or Wake-N-Waves, (me), and we can get you in to a raftup safely. (Any of the other RO's can get you into Croton as well!)

We are coming up to Croton on Friday then north Saturday to Rondout and beyond. Beside the rock wall off Croton Point is there anything else we should be looking for. I will give you guys a shout on 69 if anyone plans to be there Friday.

joebooa, you should be fine. Always watch for debris but especially when going through the cut by West Point. North of Newburgh, if unfamiliar with this stretch of the river, you should probably stay within the marked channel and keep those lighthouses on your port side going up. Enjoy...it's a nice ride.

Trying to get a clear day but it doesn't look good for this Saturday or Sunday?
If I can't get a better weather outlook for Saturday I'm rolling over this weekends Hudson Cruise...Maybe next weekend?

Yes, north of Norie you don't want to join the "I mowed the meadows" club.
