Need an A/C repair person. I have an 18 yr old taylormade 16000 BTU A/C that crapped the bed on me. P5 High Pressure code. Pump will not circulate water. Not sure if pump went or whole unit. Any recommendations. Thanks

The company I used to use was Marine Specialist's in Ronkonkoma. They are a little difficult to work with and are not cheap.

Good luck

Any chance you have a blockage in the water line someplace? Either clogged strainer, or crap in the line between the pump and the overboard discharge? A clog will cause the unit to shut down and display that code.
You can try cleaning the basket and flushing the water lines with a garden hose before calling someone in if you want.

Thanks for the advice. The pump is not working going to replace that first. I have water coming in thru the thru hull but impeller is not spinning. Noticed the pump housing has a crack in it. if that does not work I think I may just replace the whole unit. Its 18 years old and dumping a ton of money into it does not seem logical. I can do the install. We will see.

Sounds like replacing the pump should do it. Good luck!

You can use a garden hose to test a/c unit just bypass pump and just use the dock water. See if the unit works.

Also,
don't dump to much money into a 18 year old unit, you are pretty close if not there at the life expectancy of that unit. If it is a pump (you figure that out after hooking up a garden hose), make sure the pump you buy will be good if and when you need to replace the AC unit.

Well thanks for all the advice, new pump is in and working great. Will run this AC until the next breakdown and than as Walter says not dumping any money into it. Will jsut get a new one.
