I woke up this morning and it was dead calm so I could not help myself but to go looking for some Cobia. I only had three eels left from the other day but I figured I would take my chances.
I left my house in Poquoson Virginia and was in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay by sunrise. I stopped and casted at two bouys in the York River Shipping channel and then went to the Baltimore Channel. I threw my eel at No. 25 and instanly had a Cobia on, he ran hard and after a moment threw the hook. So I grabbed eel no.2 out of 3 and tossed it back at the bouy, this time it was hit as I was reeling it in, about 5 feet from my jet ski. He ran right back to the bouy and thought I would lose him as I felt the line rub against the bouy. Luckily I got him away and after about 10 minutes of enjoying some pullage I got him next to Jet Ski and put the gaff into him and held on. He was not a monster but a nice fish of about 45 inches. I tied him off in the ski and headed back, it only took me 18 minutes to get back home at 50 mph with flat and glassy conditions. I had the fish cleaned, my ski cleaned and baited up my crab pot with scraps by 0930hrs. I know what I am having for dinner. Another great trip. Here a couple of pictures. Thanks for the guys on Miss Behavin for taking my picture while out there.
