I have a 7k BTU AC on my Crownline.Only had her in the water overnight twice but the AC has been an issue..I run her off a 2k Honda EUi genny.It turns on/off fine but after 30 minutes or so of running/cooling the water pump stops flowing and of course the head pressure builds up and in a short while it cycles..Took awhile to figure it all out but that is what I have come up with.Pump defintly shuts-down then AC cycles....so I have a Cal-pump round huge cylinder unit in it now and the water flow is consistent the entire time until it shuts off.I check the motor by hand to even see if it is on and nothing.It is not running.Turn it off for awhile(30min) and it will run again for another period of time..this process repeated itself a few times.
I'm figuring this pump has had it and needs to find a new home in a trash can..It was very hot to the touch when it turned off the first i checked it.Not brun your hand hot but you wouldn't want to grab it for an extended period for sure.Plenty of water flow out the boat-hull fitting so I am guessing water flow is not the problem and the pumps age is.It is just getting to hot and shutting down.?.
What is the best way for me to go march pump?..another Cal pump?..what GPH should I usefor this 7kBTU unit?....I'd like to run a low amp unit as possible to save genny power.
