Carver 455 1998. The stairs to the engine room won't stay up , I have changed the lift arms, there are plates that the top ball for the lift arm attaches. Does any know how they can be adjusted or is there something I am missing.The stairs are covered in insulation and foil which I don't want to disturb. The broom handle works for now.

On my 440the stairs go up far enough to rest on the deck the lifts springs just help lift but don't hold them up . Are you sure the lifts springs are long enough? Unhook the springs and see if the stair will stay up?
