While docking walking in a local marina this boat caught my eye. Can anyone provide some additional info on this boat concerning the construction and performance? Is the hull solid or cored? How is the handling with one engine and a bow thruster? There appears to be several diesel models availible, a Cat or a Cummins. Is one better for speed and fuel economy?

Thanks for any comments, Paul

i am not the best source on this boat but i have toured a few

it has a very open cabin. in fact the one i looked at a year or so ago had a tv that was on a stand that you could spin from the setee to the berth. reasonably large cabin for the type/size of boat.

if my memory serves right, it was a very economical boat from a cruising stand point.

i know one of the local dealers has a real nice on right down the street in bradenton.

Check the Ask the Captain forum. Veebyes is in Bermuda and has this boat. He swears by it.

Two considerations to keep in mind cored hull and V-drive.

I agree, you can find cored hulls and V-drives on some of the finest boats made [:-thumbu]

I got a chance to talk to the owner of one last summer. His Albin arrived just before we did at a marina in Block Island, RI. He got a slip assignment that meant he had to back down a fairway between a lot of big boats and dock, in a pretty good wind, stern-to. I had to wait until he got in so I got a chance to see how he did. Very well, it turns out (and better than I sometimes do with two engines), and without much use of the thruster and, I later found out, he had only owned the boat for a few months. The boat has an interesting layout - he had four aboard plus a dog and it didn't looked cramped - seemed like a very effective use of the space.

The Albin has just a touch of lobster boat in the hull design, which I think makes it attractive. Looked like a nice boat to me but when you have dog aboard, I automatically like your boat.
