I have gone through 2 sets of alternator belts in a little over 2 yers. They get to a point where they just start squealing and after you tighten them they still squeal as they are slipping. These belts were put on by a marine mechanic that purchaed them at a NAPA auto parts store each time. The engine is a Marine Power 454 gas engine. Is it possible that these belts may just not be the correct belts therefore they are not riding on the pulley's correctly and wearing prematurely? Is there much of a difference in belt design marine vs automotive? Any advise would be appreciated!
