I installed a Maxwell 2200 windlass coupled with a 44# Bruce, all chain on my 40 Silverton aftcabin this spring. I used it several times with fine results, this weekend things were different.
Wifey and I spend the weekend at Cuttyhunk, part of the Elizibeth Island chain in Massachusetts. My anchor failed miserably. It slipped and when hauled it had a chunk of the bottom wrapped in grass firmly attached. I watched others have similar problems even with the Delta. No, I don't know the sizes of other anchors. We finally rafted with a friend on a rental mooring.
My question--- do others have good experiences anchoring in muddy grass??? What are you using for ground tackle??
