Antifreeze change.

SCA's are not required in a gas engine, only diesel.

TJM--water has a pH of 7, antifreeze undiluted is pH of 10.5. When diluted 50/50 should be about 8.75 which is basic, anything less than 7 would be acidic and that's bad for your cooling system.
Ranger 42 C--WRT the owners manual, I believe mine calls for changing the transmission fluid yearly? I don't know anybody that does that.

Yeah, ours does, too... and we do. Always looks clean, but if necessary I can tell the maker that, yes, I change it annually...

Ditto our anti-freeze regime; we do what the manual specifies, including the periodic flush. Ditto mostly 'cause that then shows up in our maintenance logs... if it were to become necessary.

I'm way out of warranty as I expect you are too, so, my preventive maintenance is based upon what is logical for my systems. That's why I asked the queation in the first place.

Yeah we are, too... A couple dock neighbors have had major engine problems, way past warranty, and were able to get some insurance help... possibly 'cause they could show compliance with manufacturer-recommended maintenance in their logs, I think. Guessing a bit, though...

yeah, guessing a bit. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to insurance payoffs.

What kind of insurance help? Was it for engine damage due to hitting something in the water or something, running aground, or coverage for general engine failure?
I wouldn’t mind having some additional coverage.

Sorry, don't really know many details... just that the engine problems weren't from hitting anything, and they were a bit relieved they didn't have to pay the whole tab for a rebuild.

Wonder which engines those were, and whether the engines might have damaged by what was not originally engine-related?
