This will be the first summer in quite sometime that I'll be relatively mobile, with only a trailerable boat. After alternating the past 16 summers between the Chesapeake Bay and Jersey Shore - always tied to a seasonal slip, interested in spending some weekends on new water this summer. Locally I've got a couple options ( Raystown & Wallenpaupack), plus in under 4 hours I can be up in the Ithaca area. Lot of lakes up there, not sure which one would be best suited.

Likely will only be up there for a long weekend, so not a ton of time to explore. Looking for best spot for water skiing, tubing, marinas with restaurants are always nice, and waterside camping would be a plus. Boat is a 23' bowrider with Bravo 3. Not a ton of information available on-line, and a lot of it conflicting. Anybody familiar with these parts? Or elsewhere in NY I should be looking? Probably takes me 6 hours to get to Lake George.

thanks.

Thanks Hogan. Somewhere at home I do have 'Cruising Guide To New York Waterways & Lake Champlain'; good book with some info on Seneca and Cayuga, but hoping to find some first hand info. My kids really took to water skiing last summer, which was lucky for me because the year before they were staring to tire of spending every weekend on the boat(s). So now of course prime ski spots has suddenly become a priority. Some of the online info says we would be better off in the smaller lakes, but not sure if that's the case.

I am planning a 2 week trip to the Finger Lakes this coming June. We will be leaving from our home port of Ivy Lea, Ontario and crossing the lake and entering the Erie Canal system at Oswego.

We are quite excited about the trip and cruising 2 of the Finger Lakes.

I will check out the 2 links HOGAN posted and if any one has more info please, send it on to me.
