Anybody been to Eddo's RV park and marina? It looks pretty nice from their web site. Close to fast water. Thinking of trying them out this summer. Any comments about their marina, ie: currents or wind issues when docking, sand bars coming off of the river, shallow water, etc. It looks like it would be convenient for an RV boat type of vacation spot that would be a bit on the quite and relaxing side.

It's secluded even though it is right on the San Joaquin. There is a big island in front protecting it.

You better have a small boat if you want to launch there, though. Nothing more than a fishing boat. Ramp is real small. But you can always launch at Brannan Island which is just a couple miles away.

I have a 30ft cruiser and Brannan Island is the best place for us to launch. It's also pretty close. I am looking for any issues with getting a 30 boat in and out of the marina for overnight stays. We have friends staying at the RV park and will cruise everyday in our boat.

I agree with the launching. RV Park is AAA approved and looks very nice. We get fuel there quite often. The only problem I see is when you head out Gallagher's Slough south to the San Joaquin there is a huge shifting sandbar to your left once you are out of the slough. It is no problem if you just hug the right side of the levee until you are clear of the sandbar. It is a very well run marina. Chris and his family do a very good job making everyone feel at home. I think you would have a very nice time there.

You will have to launch your boat out of B&W Resort, on Brannan Island Road closer to Highway 12. The resort is close to Spinddrift with supplies and a great restaraunt (Fish and Chips).

If you launch at B&W and go south under the highway 12 bridge be a little careful. Just south of the bridge is the Mokelumne Shoal right smack dab in the middle of the channel. At low tide the depth can drop to a couple feet or so. If you stay to the right and watch your depth finder you should be ok. That stretch of water gave me all sorts of grief a few times when I wasn't paying attention.

I used to berth a 32 footer there several years ago. It's a very quiet, serene place, nothing to do there but relax. They have fuel there and a small store and have remodeled the restrooms. When I was there, the boat sheds/docks were very old, maybe the facilities have been upgraded since then. The slough however can have some pretty strong current and often required a little more on the throttles when manuvering around the docks and boat sheds. Almost anywhere on the delta, there are sandbars and water hazards, you just need to become familiar with the waters near your marina.

B & W seems like an awfully long way to go to launch. I think Antioch or Brannon Island would be the place to launch. Antioch is probably closer.

Thanks everyone for the info. That is why these forums are so great. I will launch at Brannan Island. We have launched there many times and I have never had a problem leaving the truck and trailer for a week at a time. Eddo's will be new for us this year so it's fun to try something different.

Thanks Mitch, That is a cool site. I haven't had time to pull out my charts yet and look closely at the approach to Eddo's so it now looks like it should be deep enough for my boat.

Patrick....I would strongly suggest you go check it (slips) out at "LOW" tide.

We went to Eddo's Sunday for gas. We went through the slough at low tide. Plenty of water. Infact a Sea Ray 390 express cruiser came in right after us and made it just fine. Water level didn't get below 7ft. It usually stayed between 9 and 11 ft. You shouldn't have any problem. We were there at slack low. Enjoy yourselves. Great people at Eddo's.

More good information, thanks. Yes the owners at Eddo's seem really nice. They are aware of the low tide slips and informed me of them already. Glad to know the depth is good as well. They also said they will try and give me a covered slip for the week which will be nice if it's really hot. Either way, can't wait.
