Anybody seen this one up close (in Sausalito)?

Yes I saw it down by the Embarcadero last week when I was taking my noon walk to the fireboat station. You can't miss it with the helicopter hanging off the back, I wondered whose it was, now I know, thanks. I bet that skipper can do his own maintenance, has tools for the boat and helicopter and a ton of spares on board, you don't get to be 88 on Forbes list by paying people for things you can do for yourself.
A yacht of that size is going to have a full time crew and most of the crew will be multi-talented in regards to their ability to repair. I suspect that it will have a pretty good machine shop, complete with lathe and milling machine so they can fabricate parts as they need it. Regular maintenance and emergency repairs for sure, but I would expect that they would schedule time at a shipyard for anything significant.
As for the helicopter: no way would the ship's crew touch anything on that!

Most aircraft carriers have provisions for maintenance of the carrier and the aircraft. I would bet this boat has spares, tools and maintenance logs for both the boat and helio and the people are certified to do the work and sign off in the logs. The Principal I bet is more intimately involved with that maintenance and those logs for his boat and helio than you can imagine, especially if he has been inconvienced by lack of spares or tools when he has been away from a metro area.

When you have that much money you have whatever you need flown in, along with the appropriate mechanics to fix it.
If I look closely in that main salon window I see the Principal studying the shop manual, ordering spares and checking the maintenance logs for the yacht and the helio. There was a KPIX news item earlier in the week that he was 81 on Forbes list, so he went from 88 to 81 in a few days, probably because he does his own maintenance.

Looking at those pics on the link that Martinez Mitch posted brings back bad memories. That was the same year that I refitted my houseboat. With all new engine room stringers and bulkheads, new tanks, rewiring the whole boat, and a hottub, I was sure I was going to win for refit of the year. So, this is the guy who beat me out. I wonder if his refit cost more than mine did?
Delta Dawg, naw, you can be sure his maintenance gets done by one of those big updown guys, like the ones over at Bethel Island. If you check, I bet those guys all do packages deals on rotots and props. And if they don't, I see a business opportunity here...

The helo is probably more of an escape vehicle..more like a life raft than a dinghy to be used frequently. If the ship is sinking out at see they can probably just use the helo to get the hell outta there. Landing on the the back of that mega yacht with such little space..there is almost no margin for error.
