does anyone have any info/opinion about how long the Norcold refrigerators or Reritan ice maker can last?
i hate to have one crap out on a cruise. my ice maker developed an overheating problem but I managed to keep it alive by using an external fan

My 1999 Norcold in the salon is still working. (knock on wood) I replace the one in the cockpit with a compact dormitory style refrigerator. My ice maker stays cold, but leaks, so I only use it as a freezer.

The Norcold on my '93, 37C is still running per new owner. I never had an issue with it while I owned vessel. I think, much has to do with how compressor & evaporator are cooled. Everything was OEM.

My boat is a 96' all of my appliances are original I did replace the ice tray in the ice maker this year but that is about it.

If your worried about it, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a good defrost and clean the dust out of the coils. The other thing that helps reduce the stress on them Is one of those little battery powered circulating fans that you put inside the fridge. I bought mine at campers world. Might want to consider replacing the door gaskets too.

I have a 1984 ref. still going strong, only a 6 month boating season but I turn it on in the spring and off in the fall.

thx, good input,I will replace the cooling fan on icemaker
