how much would a survey typically cost for a 33' cruiser, specifically a cruisers yachts 3372 model year 2003? This would be for hull inspection, systems inspection, basic engine inspection (no compression test, etc.), and sea trial. Surveyor proposed meeting @ the dealer lot, going over the exterior, etc. then hauling to the water and doing a sea trial and systems inspection in the water with both the generator and shore power. This guy was recommended to me from another boat guy i kind of know that has had quite a few yachts in the 30-50' range. This guy quoted $640 and said the entire process would basically take the entire day or at least 3/4 of a day. He sounds pretty thorough but i have never used them and i thought most surveyors were in the $300-400 range? I am fine with paying more for a guy who really knows what the heck they are doing so i am not looking for the cheapest guy out there by any means...just not sure what the typical cost would/should be. ANyone have suggested questions i should be sure to ask them to make sure i am getting the best to be had?
