Any suggestions for good restaurants that are accessible by boat between/around middle river to inner harbor? I've gone to Shuckers in Fells point and just tied off on the city pier before with no charge. But I also no that other restaurants like Bo Brooks or Rusty Scupper you have to pay the marina next door $20 for a 2 hour dock which seems high to me.

We enjoy going to Props (formerly Chesire Crab) on Bodkin Creek, just off of the Patapsco River and Windows on the Bay in Rock Creek also off of the Patapsco. In addition, we have made several stops at Dock of the Bay, as recently as Sunday. It is located just across from Pleasure Island and the Llight house at the Hart Miller cut, next to Bill's Boat Yard.

Just 7 or so miles across the bay from Middle River is a nice little restaurant in the Tolchester marina.

All offer free dockage.

I assume you have tried the several restaurants in the Middle River area.

I'm new to middle river so no I don't know any of the restaurants there. Please add those to your list!

Middle River water front restaurants

Wild Duck Cafe - Frog Mortar Creek, adjacent to Maryland Marina
Carsons Creekside - Middle River
Riverwatch - Hopkins Creek
Sue Island Yacht Basin (410) 574-7915 has a dock bar and steam crabs available
Island View Restaurant - Hawk Cove, across from Hart Miller Island

We often tie up near the aquarium. For a short stay the Baltimore Harbor Master charges $15. You can then walk to any place in the Inner Harbor. One of our favorites is McCormick & Schmick's. Last time I checked the City Dock near Fell's Point no longer allows docking.

You could always just visit the pizza barge at Hart Miller Island. Never tried their food, but the anchoring is free and they deliver.

Don't forget the Parkside just up from the Wild Duck! Small place but good food. In Bear Creek there is a great little place at Anchor Bay Marina called the Hard Yacht Cafe. Really a nice dockbar with decent food and crabs too(great spot for lunch). We visited Dock of the Bay recently, wasn't impressed but ok. The flat out best food anywhere near the area you decribe is Reckless Ricks Cafe on Furnace creek. More bar than restaurant buy if a table in the sand and the best chicken wings you will ever eat sounds good than it's a must. Not a bad item on the menu, gotta try the Shrimp Toast!!!

Is Windows on the Bay still open? I had heard a year or so ago that they had closed, but I haven't checked out the rumor. A little pricey, but great food every time we've been there. Props is a pretty good place too. We usually visit there at least once a season.

Window's is still open. Rumor has it their lease is up this year and the marina wants to put their own restaurant in. But that's just Rumor.

Thanks everyone for your input. A great list to work from!

Mike, do you know how long the harbor master will let you tie up for $15? Do you just call them on the radio? I was also thinking of a visit to the aquarium in combination with lunch so that might work great.

I know you were asking the other mike, but i can tell you it's 15 bucks for 5 hours before 6pm. You can overnight for 1.25 a foot.....

No need to call the Harbor Master. They usually show up on a golf cart by the time you have your boat tied up. If they don't show up right away you can call them on the phone (410-396-3174). On very slow days or odd hours I have not hesitated to simply leave. They will leave you a note if you are not around when they show up.

If you don't mind going a bit farther south there is a very good restaurant at the east end of the Bay Bridge on Kent Island. Hemmingways has a free pier and has great food. Their pier is a bit exposed and is fairly high, but should not be a problem for a larger boat.
