I've been boating all my life. Lot's of strange things have happend. I've had to run for the beach a couple times.
Most all that was in Bigger boats and Salt water.
But two days ago I was fishing in my 13' Aluminum.
On my way back to the Ramp, the bow began to come up.
The engine began to lug (9.9 Johnson)
Thinking I'd picked up some line or something...I looked back and the boat was full of water.
I thought maybe I'de kicked the plug loose, nope!
I had to Bail, or run for the Beach, and being the safty first type I ran for the Beach.
We'll bail it out when we are safe on land.
The Bottom of the boat split. Not much of a crack, about 9 inches long.
But it was enough to fill that boat in a hurry.
As it turns out I could have bailed, then ran till the boat was full and stopped to bail agian.
But what I learned was: In that little boat, I could not Bail, and run the boat at the same time.
So now I'm so old and stiffende up enough to require an Electric pump in a Jon boat?
So that's the end of that boat. Some things just cannot be repaired.
The times they are a changin!
