best procedure for bottom paint (?)

I have a 18 ft walkaround and just got a slip. I obviously need to get some anti-foul bottom paint on quickly. Can someone run down the best procedure/step-by-step as to how to do it? I will probably have it done at a shop, but am unfamiliar with the procedure; i.e. powerwash, remove wax, hand sand vs. primer...then the anti-foul paint....am I close? thank you in advance.

Your flow chart seems pretty good. Check the bottom paint can to see if you really need a primer. Inboard or outboard?

Suggest you check bottom paint manufacturers tech literature for first-time painting of bare fiberglass. Interlux has good literature on their site, yachtpaint.com. Look on the right side of their home page and see the Hotlinks box. There is even one on New Boat prep which is for boats that have not previously had bottom paint.

Your list is pretty good; Interlux would recommend their "No Sand Primer" following a solvent scrubbing using a maroon 3M Scotchbrite pad. Watch the application temperatures and be sure it is within the paint manufacturer's specifications - summer temps can leave you with a hot surface which can flash solvents too fast before good bonding takes place.
