I was thinking of doing a trip to Liberty Landing this month and going up the Hudson a bit but I don't think September will work so was thinking of waiting till October if I can fit it in at all. What would be a good timeframe to plan while the leaves are changing?

Thanks,
John

Based on several of our fall cruises up the Hudson, which usually were around mid-month, there was color, but I think waiting another week would make it exceptional. So, imho, I would shoot for something around the third full week of October.

Yep, usually late October, but I don't know how the cool temps and excessive rain will affect the colors this year.

Thanks, might not want to wait that long. I'll see how things work out, if I'm headed your way I'll let you know and maybe we can meet up.

The second to third week of October is definitely the best...

I have always wondered why folks talk of dates when the turning of the leaves is determined by hours of daylight.

Temperature on the Hudson River water plays a big role in the timing of the leaves changing. That and air temps.

My experience is the river turns a week or so after the leaves at my house change over.

Look at 3 or 4th week of October.

Yes the river valley is always slower up here as well. You can look up at the Catskills and see the color meanwhile the shoreline is still green.

We're booked at Haverstraw 10/23-10/25.

Our first trip up that way.
