Best Tow Package from GG to Sacramento?

As I was going through a huge stack of mail I see BoatUS reminding me my membership expired
while I was back in Denver, so I called them.

A Captain's Card is good within 30 miles of any of their Tow Stations. And Berkeley is the one closest to the GG. Since our Tollycraft hasn't been out of it's slip but once since Oct 2004, I wasn't panicked, but I do need to find out who is best to use right now. I was spoiled by Tom. Call him and find out who you could depend on.

I would still like to make a run to Monterey or Fort Bragg some day, but don't want to go alone. A Captain's card would probably do me just fine inside the GG, but outside?

Who are you using now? (And thanks again for all the kind wishes and prayers, it is good to be home again -- Dave & Chris & Tolly the wonder mutt)

EDIT: I just measured from the Bezerkeley Docks to the South East Farallon and it is 33 miles to the near island.

I was wondering...I am in that area and I break down. My GPS position puts me at 29 miles from the docks. Their tow boat is busy and I drift 4 miles waiting on them. NOW I am
33 miles away. Just curious as to how they might see that.

I'm sure Phil will chime in soon. I carry the Captains Unlimited card. I got this when bring the boat up north from Ensenada and have continued to carry it so that I'm covered when out tuna fishing offshore. I highly recommend Vessel Assist/BoatUS. Phil is based out of Bethel Island but he covers all of the Delta and SF Bay. Excellent service!

Dave, I have carried the Capt's unlimited for the last couple of years and that is probably what I will get when I renew.

I thought I would ask around before I renewed, in case someone had invented a better mouse trap.

Just received a flyer that for unlimited towing you can save 20%. The offer is good until August 31, 2007. Heck of a deal. I wouldn't go boating without it. Phil has rescued us in the past. Gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that help will be on the way.

I agree, it looks like the Captain's Unlimited is still the best deal. If we get a chance to go to Monterey or Fort Bragg, we can upgrade it.

Here I am...
DLL, I would not worry about the drifting out of the 30 mile range issue. VA/BUS is not in this to split hairs. They are very good about customer relations.
The Captains Card is good enough within the Bay/Delta region unless you launch from one end, travel to the other, and don't want to get boat towed to a nearby repair center if you lose an engine (where do they go?). I hope that is clear.
