I recently upgraded boats and my wife and I have been back and fourth about what to name it. The old boat was named the Audrey II as you might have gathered. We were thinking about the Audrey TOO. However the boat that we just sold the new owner did not remove the old name before having a tragic accident and dieing while docking early last week. Now both of us are not sure if it would be bad luck to reuse the name, it is disturbing just to so the boat on land at the marina. I wish someone would remove the name.
Any thoughts are welcome, am I just being superstiticous or is there something to this?

" Had an accident while docking and DIED " ?

Im not superstitious or anything........but that would make me change the name.

In my opinion, as long as you will remeber the name being associated with the event, why not get a new name in a new start.

Good luck!!

Unfortunately the name will always remind you of this tragic accident. As the others have said, a new name may be in order.

While there are certainly positive memories with the old name, sometimes it makes sense to move on.

I guess it's back to the books I had the name for 8 years but you're all probably right it's time to move on and start fresh. I have all winter to come up with a new name.

I would definitely change it. For years to come people will be asking if "Audrey TOO" was the boat involved in the accident...you don't need the bad memories following you.

Besides, it's always fun coming up with a name.

I think Audrey Too is a great name for your new boat and as far as bad luck goes, maybe it is unlucky to use a boat with a name someone else thought of. I'm sure you had years of happy memories associated with the Audrey II and the good luck to get rid of it before "it" decided to kill its new owner, who from reports, maybe wasn't physically able to handle it without crew or at least help on the dock. Enjoy your new boat and make your own good luck.
