So how is it that sea lions seem to do OK in the Delta? This summer there was one taking up residence in Turner Cut and I kept seeing him week after week. Didn't look like he was having problems as I would frequently see him tearing up catfish for dinner.
I suppose they're more adapted to fresh water. Kind of like Salmon.
It is well known that the seals follow the srippers upstream into the delta. If they are being seen eating catfish, does that mean the strippers aren't around? Scary for January!
Perhaps this dolphin also followed a school of fish up to Stockton. Now he is disoriented and can't find his way out to the sea where he belongs......
