New ownership. They do alot of advertising directed at Disco Bay. Has anyone been there in the last year or so? What are your thoughts?

The last time I was there, in the late 1980s, it was a sleepy little "liveaboard" type marina making a killing selling gas to the thirsty skiboats. Times they be a changin!
 
it's still the same sleepy little liveaboard marina selling beer and gas to a bunch of wake boarders who are more than happy to pay the overinflated prices.

This is the second owner in the past two years. Obviously the last one couldn't make a go of it. He did build a new bar there, but I think he lost his liquor license or maybe never had one to begin with because I never saw the bar open.
 
FB, obviously I haven't been there in the last 4 years, but we used to go there all the time because it is the closet ice/beer/etc if you are anchored in Mildred. It was always as described above.... sleepy and expensive but before we had a boat with a generator and ice maker, we went there often/alot. Also bought bait for fishing in Mildred. The name is better than than the actuality.... that is they are selling the sizzle and not the steak.
 
In about 2 weeks I will go by Bull Frog Landing, on my way to Bethel Island. Planning to find a place with good food and power hook-up on the dock. Which marina has good dinners the time of the year.....?

At BI, there are three restaurants on the water [Piper Slu] with boat docks and overnighting. The Landing is the least expensive but no power at the docks.

Then there is Paradise at Sugar Barge. This is the newest, with all the amenities. Food is very good!

Then there is Rusty Porthole. Great ambiance, food varies, docks have power. However, don't plan on having your boat there on New Year's Day. They have the Frozen Bun Run which uses all the dock space! Then the restaurant closes for the month of January........
