Hi everyone,
New to the Carver Owner section. Been looking at a 2002 Carver 410 Sport Sedan, Volvo TAMD 63P-A 370HP diesels. The 410 is a different looking style, lots of salon space and deck area. Is there anyone familiar with this model Carver? Doing lookups can't find much information, it looks like they only produced them for a couple years. That in itself scares me a bit, wondering if this model had many issues and they decided to dis-continue. Haven't been able to find anyone so far that is experienced with the 410.

Thanks
Joe

I don't know anything about the boat, but I do like that model.
It was actually on my short list when I was looking 7 years ago.

In my view though a 370HP is pretty small for a 41' boat.
I would look at cruise speed and make sure boat gets on plane and goes as fast as you like.

I know my motors are small, but i think my boat is much lighter than the Carver and I have IPS400.

Just my .02

Yes, that is one of my questions to the owner. I've only seen Volvo and Cummins 370's in the 410, 31600 lbs.
What didn't you like about the Carver that steered you to another boat?

I like the boat.
Layout is great. Though 2 heads is overkill.
But in the end I think I felt it was too big for where I boat.
I didn't want a boat longer than 40'.

Guy I know has one and he loves it but it's definitely not a fast boat.
My concern would be how hard you gotta push the motors to make it stay on plane.
740hp is not alot for a 32K lb boat.

Carver 410 Sport Sedan (Not in Production) Test Result Highlights

I found these test results online from Boatest.com.

Top speed for the Carver 410 Sport Sedan (Not in Production) is 31.7 MPH (51 KPH), burning 41.0 gallons per hour (GPH).

Best cruise for the Carver 410 Sport Sedan (Not in Production) is 25.2 MPH (40.6 KPH), and the boat gets 0.80 miles per gallon (MPG) or 0.34 kilometers per liter (KPL), giving the boat a cruising range of 289 miles (465.1 kilometers).

Tested power is 2 x 370-hp Volvo Penta TAMD63P inboard diesels.

That's not that bad, but we all know test results are usually over-inflated to favor manufacturer with perfect conditions and no extra weight.
But still not bad for that size boat.

The 410 was only made for 1 year, and was replaced by the visually identical 42 Mariner. The only difference between the two boats is strictly interior layout. The 42 Mariner was made for quite a while and was very popular (for a boat of it's size). We sold most of them with gas engines, but the one's I've run with diesels run very well. I would agree with Kellyg's post of numbers.
