I have a 1999 Carver 356 and I am replacing the carpet throughout the boat. When I bought the boat, the aft cabin stateroom carpet was covering the 5 hatches in the cabin. So to access the hatches, you had to pull the carpet out of the way. Does anyone have this boat and can tell me if the hatches in the aft cabin are covered individually or must you roll up the carpet to access them? If you could post a photo it would be great. Thanks for your time.

We have the same model year Carver 356. The aft stateroom carpet is a one piece "L" shaped section. The area adjacent to the aft head door is not glued to the floor. It must be rolled back toward the aft stateroom door to gain access to the hatches over the stern bilge area/pump, shower/AC condensate sump, and holding tank.
The aft stateroom floor is a fiberglass deck and the hatches are made of a press wood product. You could probably lay new carpet and make precise cuts for the hatches. However, it can be a messy area to clean and rolling up the carpet gives you some margin for keeping the rug from getting bilge and shower sump stains.

Thanks for the info. I will proceed in the same fashion. Those are good points about the waste tank and shower sump. Better to get the carpet completely out of the way.

I found removing the door from the hinges helped get the carpet out of the way.
