I was at the boat this weekend and noticed many many very large clumps of peat floating around. I have seen this many piece at one time in 30 yrs. I think the very high winds from last week must have worked these lose and now they are s-l-o-w-l-y making their way downstream into the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers on the way to the bay.
These floating hazards are about 4-5 ft square by 1 ft thick. I don't think they could "hole" a hull, but they could definitely mess up a prop.
Please be careful out there!
