Check your jackstands

This week's cold weather must be causing the ground to freeze and heave a bit for the first time this season. I was at the boat and noticed the rear most blocking on my keel was floating free. I had to loosen the jackstands to get the weight back on the keel. Lots of people told me I only need four stands but at this point, I'm very glad I went for six.

It makes sense for the land close to the river to have high moisture content and move a bit when it gets cold.

Chris I've seen this and should have reminded everyone. We get significant heaves up here on the Rondout. Generally speaking anyone who has a boat should check it weekly or so to ensure it is ok.

Anyway, I had my buddy Mark check the boats last week. I'll admit I've been so busy I haven't taken a ride up there since November...
