O.k. I know I'm having a midlife crisis! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this thread go here. "Chris Connie 46" (i couldn't get the link pasted).

I dug the owner's phone number out and called to see if he had sold the boat. He claimed a Canadian had visited twice, but then fizzled. We talked for awhile and he agreed to make concessions if the boat's bottom had problems upon hauling and survey.

I talked to the surveyor last night and he agreed to continue from where he stopped previously.

The s/y was not open today so it will be monday before I can schedule the haulout. The surveyor has requested my presence during the out of water portion fo the survey. My wife is going to accompany me this time, so I'm going to drive and take the opportunity to haul some basic survival equipt. (pots, pans, bedding etc.)

Now to the meat of this post.
Upon haulout I expect significant issues concerning her bottom. (She is an original boat.) I'm going to say best case scenario is a complete bottom refastening would be required. The first figure that pops into my mind for this job is $5,000.00. I'm ging to budget $8,000.00. Plank replacement is a real possibility, but hopefully there won't be a significant no. of them.

Depending on condition I may have to have bottom work done in R.I. before the trip to La. Hopefully, I can have the work done down south where prices are significantly more attractive.

My wife assures me she still loves me and that I can have this boat. he he! WOW what a releif! I wasn't looking forward to the alimony!

We will move this boat approx. 2,000 mi. on her own bottom and restore her right here on Boatfix.com.
