Civiles will not re-open after the damage it suffered during Sandy.

We have some great memories of fantastic meals there with family and friends.

A sad day, one less good restaurant to go to...

He lost his two cars, his boat and his restaurant. I can't blame him for packing it in.

That so sad. I liked there food and location. Mike, does that mean our last dinner was when we were there for my Birthday?

One more casualty of that damn storm. Wasn't one of my favorite places but still another option for dock and dine on occasion. Went down the shore this weekend and the Seaside, Lavalette, Ortley area was pretty much unrecognizable and I know the area like the back of my hand. The destruction is difficult to grasp. I hope Civile lands on his feet and is able to open another restaurant in a better and safer place where he will never have to worry about this kind of thing again!!!

At the end of Main St. in Haverstraw village, on the water. They had a dock you could take your boat to.

You might remember it as Vincents Landing before it became Civiles.

If you want another destination, bring your dinghy or small boat to the guest dock at CYC, north of the clubhouse. Walk over the foot bridge and there are two popular restaurants. "The Tavern at Croton Landing" and the "Ocean House".

The tavern is a pub/grill place with nice food. The pizza is very good as are the wings and salads...heck everything I've had there is good.

Ocean House is a great seafood place but small so it's tough to get a table, no reservations. You can check in / put your name on a list then go next door to the tavern and wait. Ocean house has no liquor license so bring your own wine.

In Ossining, the boat house re-opened shortly after the storm and hopefully they will have their tiki bar again this summer...something they added at the end of last summer.

Can anyone tie up at the guest dock? Do you need to check-in with anyone?

Always nice to have another place to eat.

Yes Mike, anyone can tie up. You don't HAVE to check in with anyone as we don't have a harbor master or even a bartender on staff. If you want to be polite, check to see if anyone is in the club house and if so, let them know your intentions...we appreciate stuff like that. Or what I would do is leave a note on my boat with cell phone number just in case. Also, if possible, do not use the side of the dock used by those launching and retrieving boats.

Of course, if I'm there, first round is on me. Unfortunately, our liquor license says we are a private club for members and guests only so we are not officially open to the public but be my guest.
