Coast Guard Broadcasts Sector NY?????

I have always found it somewhat difficult to hear and understand many of the CG people that broadcast security messages on the radio due to the speed at which they talk. (Some really do take their time and articulate the words, coming across so clear I'd swear they were standing next to me)

This morning I've heard 2 transmissions where they are using electronic synthesized voices and the damn thing can't even SAY the word security!!!!!

Are budget cuts that bad that humans are being replaced on channel 16 now?

John- Sometimes I swear they must make the announcements from a chopper because there is so much background noise.

I hear you Dan. The electronic message played several times before I realized it was a pretty important message about the tug boat races on the Hudson today. I literally thought, "oh here's another drunk clogging up ch 16!"
