Someone mentioned to me in passing that Cold Spring Harbor is one of their favorite ports but I didn't get anything further on it from them. Searching here and checking Active Captain there is precious little feedback on staying there. It's pretty clear there is no transient dockage (I'm 50') and H&M Powles seems to be the spot to grab a mooring but the reviews are not good and it looks like 30' may be their limit. Any local knowledge to share on how to enjoy CSH?

Thanks!

Cold Spring Harbor is an old whaling port with a small little town. The harbor is very well protected and a beautiful place to anchor. That being said, I don't think a boat your size would fit in well as it is a very crowded anchorage. There is not much to do or see in Cold Spring except for the Whaling museum. My experience is from over twenty years ago, so it may be a little outdated, but I don't think much has changed.

Not much has changed, but worth a visit. Nice littel shops, some restaurants, pretty quiet.
