The Intrpid is comming home today after almost 2 years of cleaning up. Hard to believe its been 2 years since they moved her. Would love to go down and see them move her but that thing they call work is getti ng in the way...

Leaving Staton Island around 11 and due at her dock around 2...
 
Should be easy to dock in the mud now that they took the props off!
 
they dredged the slip, I'm going to try to get over there for a look-see
 
I am in NYC today, over at Ave of Americas b/w 54th and 55th.
How far away am I?
 
Just past the pier. Media crews are setting up. I'm going to head over in a few.
 
dave, It's on 12th Ave at 46th St. you gotta walk west about 6 blocks and south 9 blocks

Yeah it's a decent walk, but you could use the exercise!

She has landed.

I just happened to look back at the webcam and saw her coming into her slip. The barges are just pushing her in.

Awsome! I can't wait to see it after the refit. Dave, don't worry you won't get mugged. Propositioned (maybe I've never seen you) etc. but not mugged. Unless you are really ugly. :D
 
When I was younger the Bridge Painters Union used the Intrepid as a training center.

We would rig scaffolds over her side and scrape and paint, also spend a lot of time down in her "bowels", scrapping and painting. Not sure I could fit thru her manways any longer. It was amazing how many compartments it took to keep her afloat
 
great picture. i can't believe it's been 2 years already. someone's gotta figure a way to slow things down a bit.
 
Amen to that, Bruce! Glad the the Intrepid is home - its been a lonely place down at those piers without her...
 
I drive in down river road in jersey every morning and usually glance over at the cruise ships. This morning i did a double take when i saw the intrepid there. Looks like at was painted a darker color.
