It seems like our weekends are filling faster and faster now-a-days with life outside boating. So i was thinking of extending our time at the boat by commuting from haverstraw/stony point to downtown manhattan on a monday or friday. Does anyone make the trip? I think I've heard rumblings of a ferry, but not sure of the details. I'd like to try it, but not sure how practical it is.

Glad to hear everyone made the best of the holiday weather, hopefully we'll get back to the bowline fireworks next year.

There is a ferry that goes from the Haverstraw landing to Yonkers, the Financial Center and Pier 11. It claims to be "high speed", but it only goes about 23 mph, so it's a fairly long ride. It takes me two hours from Haverstraw to my office on Maiden Lane. If they really to attract more customers, they need to get a boat that goes a lot faster.

The other problem with it is that there are only two trips in in the am and two trips out in the pm. The boats are nice and comfortable, they have free coffee & donuts in the am, and on Fridays they have free beer for the ride home.

Here is the link to the service:

Mike thanks! My office is on Broad/Water street so the pier 11 stop would be perfect. I alternate taking the weehawken ferry to pier 11 right now. A two hour ride is pretty long, but there could be some much needed down time in there. Free friday beer sounds a lot better than the 4,5,6 train to grand central to ossining to the ferry. I'm scheduled to bring the boat to pennybridge tonight for service, if the weather holds up. Hope to see you for a couple cold ones some friday.

I'm at the channel club in monmouth, nj for the week, rode down yesterday. We'll be back Friday or Saturday.

nice, that actually might be a destination for us next month. We were going to go to kingston again, but it seems like everyone loves the channel club. Enjoy, thanks again.

Tell me about it, I had to read it twice myself. I wonder if there are any limits, because I could do some damage on a 1hr45min trip up the river after a long week of work.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. As it is, we usually have a small group on the MN train hanging out on Fridays. Maybe we'll take the train down to the ferry and beg a ride from Haverstraw to Croton afterwards.

Anyone get the feeling Hogan likes beer ? :). Hope you and the family are having a great down there !... Have a few for me Mike
