Is anyone familar with Cortlandt YC. We are planning a long weekend up from NJ with the grandkids and are looking for a short run from home and a place to keep the kids busy. Thanks

Why not Haverstraw? Nice pool and restaurant.

Thanks for the replys. Been to Haverstraw and its a nice place. We were at Cortlandt 15 years ago and it seems like a better place to keep kids active. Does Haverstraw have BBQ area?

Yes, but it can be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnggggg walk from where you are docked.

Mike a little exercise never hurt anyone! They have BBQ's but they are charcoal not gas they sell bags in the marine store.

Joe I have never spent any time in Cortland I'm not sure what they have to offer. I just moved to Haverstraw this year and couldn't be happier! Very friendly place and deep water.

So Dave, How do you like Haverstraw..? Do they have enough water...?

CYC for sure! Been going there since the late 70's...kids and grandkids. Very familial...nice pool...snackbar...all around friendly place.

I'm one of the owners there, it is the best yacht club on the east shore. We have plenty of water, you can come and go as you please. A very nice pool and play ground for the kids and a cafe that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. Check out are website for more information.

Be sure and read the comments on ActiveCaptain (dot com). Not all of the recent visitors agree with Al's comments about deep water and the ability to come and go as you please. I have no personal experience there.

About 18' at low tide I would say that's enough!

Thanks everyone for the info. We are going in July and I will report back.

+ 1 for CYC. Not an owner like Al, but been there for 7+ years. Great place for families. Easy approach thru the bouys due East of Stony Point Light.

Spent the last weekend and Monday at CYC and really enjoyed it despite the weather. The people we all very friendly and Rob the "man in charge" could not have been more helpful and nicer. Plan on going back soon.

a year or two ago there was an ad in Boating on the Hudson saying that the cafe was open to the public. We went over from SPBM and the food was good. The menu was the same as when he ran our restaurent. I think Brian was his name. Is it still open to the public? we went in and docked on the right side.

Brian was great I enjoyed going to the club when he was there I haven't eaten there since he has been gone! I did hear he went there but I never got there to check it out I would be interested to know if he is still there.
Now I'm in the mood for a bowl of chili:)

Unless something's changed, I believe Rob runs the snack bar at CYC.

Glad you had a good time, Joe. Good Grief was there, though we were in RI at a baseball tournement.. ... Stop in and say Hi next time you're in!

I thought Brian opened a place up in Middletown NY? Can't remember the name though.

We've stayed at CYC. Great place. Al even got our boat hauled on short notice to diagnose a problem we had.
