From Gun Cay to Bird cay. Perfect weather!

The gulf crossing was pretty good on monday with a two day window following a rough week end

I ended up skipping Bimini and anchoring on the back side of Gun Cay, just south of Honeymoon. It s an easier cut (I arrived after dark) and it saves an hour or so from Bimini the next day

This morning the crossing from bird cay where I anchored last night to Nassau was the usual sloppy mess. Just 2 to 3 footers but very confused.

I m at Nassau yacht Heaven for a couple of days awaiting guests before heading to the Exumas. I cleared here in Nassau for the first time which is easier as they come to the boat.

There is a new supermarket in the shopping center across the street from Nassau harbor club, was closed today (Bahamas holiday) but looks a lot better than the former city market.

That's good news on a new market. Are you talking about the Nassau Harbour Club with Pete as the dockmaster, which is directly across from a shopping plaza?

Yes, that shopping plaza...

It s called Solomon s fresh market but no affiliation with the stateside fresh market although from what I could see it is inspired by it...nit s good news because the other markets are pretty bad!

Last time we were there we walked along to the bridge from Nassau Harbour Club and saw there was a "Gourmet" market which had a few interesting items but they were exorbitantly priced.

Edit:

We believe this gourmet place was called Balduccino's on East Bay Street.

Since I had to shovel snow today this was a welcome video to watch. Thanks for posting.

Balducino, yes still there, pricey but good stuff...

How do you tie those cleats? They don't look like they have a place to slip the loop end into. Just a "v". Seems like anything you tie could slip off?

I don't know, never had one come loose... Pretty standard design on many boats.

Dave as long as the boat is above the dock s/b no issue. Drop the line in the middle and take the loop over each side. The only difference is you don't pull the loop through the middle you just lay it on.
But with pilings I am thinking the loop end goes around the piling so you can wrap the cleat and adjust the lines to settle into the tidal movement. Standard criss cross over the cleat.
