Noticed a small amount of water behind the head , first thought it was the small tube that injects treatment into bowl, nope not it.
Then I got out inspection mirror and could see small leak at bottom of water pump impeller plate. Took apart and replaced gasket, still leaked. So then pulled the entire head apart to place on work bench to better see pump.
I took a plate off spare I had laying around, it looked better shape, put gasket along with goop on the cover and installed. Turned on and in short time here comes leak again........
While I had pump off I looked for cracks in housing, saw nothing to be concerned....I had probably pulled this apart 4 times so said screw it and ordered a new pump housing to install.

Guess I'm looking to see if anyone else had to deal with this sort of problem and am hoping I did not put the cart in front of the horse. I was just becoming more frustrated with not resolving the leak not to mention the pain I was beginning to feel from pulling hoses off and on.
When I bought our boat 8 years ago I did the Raritan exchange with both Crowns, so been trouble free up until now.

It's likely the shaft seal. Replace it ASAP, before it gets into the motor... then it will get expensive AND shut the toilet down. Inspect the motor closely while you have the toilet apart, for signs of water damage.

Motor looked fine but will take another look when the new pump arrives. Shaft had some build up on it or little scoring so will take another look at that as well....I was thinking of changing that seal but never did, it sure appeared to be leaking from right under cover plate. I don't think the water would weep around from back side and up over the ball seat to the cover plate was my thought.

Crap, wish now I had changed the seal, I had one..oh well, got a new pump on the way so it should serve me well for years to come. I can still put the seal in my old pump and use as spare for my other head.
Thanks
Brad

well got to it yesterday and sure enough it was the pump seal.

When motor shaft seal fails, it drips down in the bottom center of the pump, through the "weep" hole at the bottom of the pump. The "weep" hole is there to divert the water away from the motor, if the seal should fail.
