Cruise

Hi Wayne. Glad you had fun - it sure was a (rare) nice day! Opening day is a must, but maybe stop by Mandeville during the 4th. Loads 'o Fun!

Wayne,

Sounds like a beautiful day and good news on the boat engines. Who did you finally find to service them correctly?

Opening Day on the Bay is supposed to be a lot of fun, but I've never gone as it coincides with the opening day of trout season. Another good event in May is the KaBoom fireworks show put on by KFOG. Another one we enjoy is the Jazz Jubilee in Sacramento. About a 120 boats come in and dock at Sacramento Yacht Club. You can go to Old Town for the Jubilee, but SYC puts on a full slate of entertainment and meals too.

Glad you're up and running again!

Wayne,

Opening Day is really a huge boat parade. There is usually a parade theme, but many people just decorate with what they have. There is also a blessing of the fleet by a local man of the cloth. PICYA offers another option to using your own boat by chartering a Hornblower yacht where you can observe while enjoying good food and drink.

I think we are all curious as to what was the problem with your engine.

San Joaquin YC also has Opening Day the Saturday before Opening on the Bay takes place. The clubhouse is open to the public and any boat is welcome to join the parade which leaves at 12 noon and takes a three-hour tour around Bethel Island. The parade can be viewed on the island anywhere that has visibility of the water. Please respect private property.

I like to keep up with delta and bay happenings by reading the Bay and Delta Yachtsman. I've been a subscriber for over thirty years! http://www.yachtsmanmagazine.com/ Check out the column "Down The Rode" for future happenings.

If I'm not mistaken, the mechanic he says finally fixed the problem is the same one that started the thread when Wayne was unhappy. I'm guessing that when everyone calmed down and talked about it, the mechanic was found to be correct.

I'd love to hear more about what happened too. After the bashing the mechanic took, it would be nice to see a retraction in just as emphatic a tone.

Nice to hear that everything turned out well for all involved!

Yep

we made ends up and we got the problem fixed

What happen is this on the boat

Port side fuel filter was so clogged up, it caused the fuel pump to seize up
(remember that fuel pump needs the gas to keep its plastic vanes cool, kind of like water on a seawater impeller)

That causes not enough fuel in the carb, which caused major varnishing

Well while i was there, i looked at cap and rotor, which was so salt weathered, it was blue inside!

So i told him do, both caps and rotors, plugs looked good

So what we did was, on both motors

CAP
ROTOR
FUEL FILTERS
CARB REBUILDS

PORT SIDE PUMP

I also had to tweek the starboard shift cable, he just had that replaced, but when you do things with cables, you will need to adjust after 10 and 25hrs of use
