Crusader Carb Problem

1992 Crusader 454. Holly Carburators. One gas tank for both

The starboard engine on this boat runs rough at idle. It chugs. We have tried many things.

A friend who is a professional car mechanic says it's the carburetor. We had it rebuilt and it still does the same thing. He says sometimes carbs just need to be replaced and a rebuild will not help.

I think the next step is to switch the carbs from one engine to the other.

Opinions welcome.
 
Switching carbs is a good start. It costs only time.
 
Change the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap? Do you have electronic ignition or the old points/condensors?
 
WHAT MODEL? WHAT many things did you do?

What is CHUGS?
 
What happens when you give it full throttle when it chugs.

Trying to determine if it's fuel related or electrical. There are more electrical things that can go wrong but since the original question was Carb related we'll look at that first.
