Can anyone clarify the proper operation of the dc breaker (button that has the number 50 on it) located near the main battery switch. I have a 3227 but have seen the same breaker on other Carvers from the 80's and 90's. Mine appears to not being doing anything. Nothing happens when I press the breaker. There is a wire from the main post of the battery switch running to this breaker then from breaker to main panel. I'm guess the breaker is bad and needs replaced?

Any insight would be appreciated.

More than likely nothing should happen when you press it if it is working correctly. The breaker will only pop out if it trips and you have to press it in to reset it. Un-tripped it will be in and nothing would happen if you press it.

I believe the #50 should indicate the amperage rating of the breaker.

That breaker is the power supply breaker to the house panel. If you pull on that "button", it will turn off the power to the main panel. The power comes from the battery switch to this breaker and then on to the main breaker on the 12V panel. It is used as a safety feature. It will not affect the engines, just the house power. It is NOT the charger output breaker.

Thanks for the input. You confirmed what I thought. The breaker must be bad because it is pulled out and there is still power to my panel. When I push it in it doesn't stay.

I figured it out. It's the over current thermal breaker for the DC system. Breaker had failed. I found a direct replacement online. Mystery solved... On to the next project!
