My dad has recently given me his old sailboat, a 1968 O-Day Daysailer 17'. It has several pieces of wood trim and deck that need refinishing. I'd like a finish that looks decent and requires as little maintenance as possible. I asked several of my boating friends and one of them stronly recommended Olje. Anyone else have any experience/opinion/instruction regarding this product? Or any others I should consider?
The wood is currently varnished with a darker color, and some pieces have been sanded, but none are stripped. I'm not sure what type of wood it is (teak, mahogany, etc).
This is boat #2, and project #lostcount, so low maintenance is key, although it sounds like that may be an impossible request. I have the wood pieces at home now and it will be late May until Michigan is warm enough for boating, so time is not an issue.
Thanks,
Will
