Has anyone mounted an inflatable on the hardtop of a 1986 36' aft cabin? I would like to see a picture of the crane and tie downs you used.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Softtop here.
I would just like to find a used hardtop for mine.
Then I'll be very interested in the replies here...

I'm also interested to hear if anyone has done this.
We keep our 9'4" zodiac on the swim platform, standing up on the port tube and leaning against the aft cabin hatch. Only problem is if we cruise at night, have to remember to tip the zodiac down towards the water so that the stern light is visible.

I going to nix the dinghy on hardtop idea. It would totally block my vision to the rear from the upper station. Oh well, back on the foredeck it goes.

Any reason why you don't want to stow it on the swim platform?

Perhaps it interferes with exhaust gas flow away from the transom? On my older 2895 we had a hard time with the "station wagon" effect, and having that dink up against the transom only acted as a scoop to bring the gases into the cockpit that much more...

Then again, doesn't the 36 have a side dump exhaust system???

3607 comes out the back. Wife and I just think the boat looks better with transom not covered with hypalon boat bottom. I have a chrome lift that mounts forward and I stow on the fore deck. It's all compromise on a boat!

Why dont you try a hurley davit. There web site is the same name. I have had one on 2 boats and it works awesome. Gives you more room on the transom to move around. It is also an easy on and off. Not too pricey either.

St Croix has some interesting davits too. They are located in Minnesota (St. Croix River, I think, not the Caribbean island!)

Their website is www.davit.com .

I've dealt with them a little - nice folks. My friend Mark up on the Hudson has a nice davit set from them on the transom of his Sea Ray 370. Perhaps they have something else that's more appropriate for your boat...

If the transom light is a problem with the dinghy stowed on the platform put an additional white running light on the arch and toggle switch to turn it on when running. Then install a switch to turn off the transom light. We had a similar issue with our 3807 and that's what we did. Works very well and meets regulations.
