Dinner at Spindrift/Overnight by Boat

Hope to see there Tim!

Well, I'm off to the delta and will not have access to my email until next Tuesday.

Ah great, looks like we ended up double-booking ourselves for Sunday dinner. I think you guys will have to count us out this time. Maybe next time tho!

Well, we had our dinner last night! 6 of the 12 were there: baytrawlerguy; yzer and his wife; papamike and his wife; and me! The C & D was truly delicious!!!! BTG gets the prize for coming the furtherest; he drove all the way from Marin County to join us for dinner! Some folks will do anything to enjoy a great meal. All in all, it was a fun evening, though I was the only one who came by boat. I found the tides were favorable to minimize the winds and the trip from Bethel Island went quite well.

Monday morning, I enjoyed a leisure cup of coffee and readied the boat to get under way. The ignition wouldn't work. Dang! I didn't have any problem Sunday......so I switched batteries: nothing; I checked the connections behind the dash: everything looked fine; I wiggled all the connections and they stayed put: nothing. There is an inline fuse for the ignition, but I could not get it open to see if the fuse was blown. But what would have blown the fuse????

Time to hail Phil of VAAAA. He was there johnny on the spot and did a fine job of towing me back to Bethel Island. Next weekend I'll address the problem and get it fix. But it was sure nice to be able to leave my boat at its marina and not try to deal with it at an unknown location.

We had a great time. Sorry to hear about the electrical woes, Flutter. I guess Phil had a quick look at the problem too, before he towed you back to Bethel Is.

We just finished the "doggie bag" of the chicken & dumplings. That was enough for two meals for both of us!

BTG, did you find that fine vintge bottle at Lira's Sunday night? I noticed while driving through Rio Vista that they were open 'til 9 last night... must have stayed open late for the holiday weekend.

Thank God for Vessel Assist and Capt. Phil. He and his crew are the best. Our last problem that left us stranded was handled by an older gentleman. He towed us in and glided our boat right into our slip. We were impressed. Phil towed us the other time when our outdrive went out. I would not take a boat out if I didn't have vessel assist. My hat's off to them. Sorry about your problems Flutterby. It seems like with a boat you just never know when problems will come up. Glad you guys had a good time. Hopefully, we will be able to join you next time.

No wine on the way home--based on advice Lira's would be closed, I took a left at 160 and came home via Route 4.

Here is the pic the waitress took:

That's me in the back in the dark red shirt. I'll let others ID themselves (or not) as they choose....

I think yzer was the youngest there [not counting the admirals!] and he has the most gray hair! Reminds me of Taylor Hicks......I've got on the white crocheted blouse.
