"THE DELTA NEEDS YOUR HELP!! As you all may be aware, the Discover The Delta Foundation (DTDF), a non-profit organization, came into being about 2 years ago, with the mission of building a large information center. The Center is to be located at the Southwest corner of Highway 160 and 12 (across from the Rio Vista Bridge) where approximately 50,000 cars pass by daily. The DTDF has purchased 2 acres of land and have received a generous donation from the Dutra Company to provide fill for the foundation pad. The building will be two stories, 7,728 sq ft, and is expected to open in the Fall of 2008. (see the website for further
information: http://www.discoverthedelta.org)

This Center is extremely important to the Delta so it can provide information for businesses, marinas, restaurants, recreation, agriculture, state and local agencies, history, tour info, displays, and much more. There will also be a "Hal Schell History Display" in the Center. There are so many people, even locally, that don't even know where the Delta is! The DTDF is very committed to this project and helping the Delta survive so the next generation and future generations can still participate and enjoy the beauty and wonder of this incredible place.

Please help out by going to http://www.discoverthedelta.org and signing up for a membership. IT ONLY COSTS $50 PER YEAR (tax deductible)!! That's cheap and worth every dime. Once you join, you will receive a static logo decal for your car, boat, scooter, golf cart, airplane, bicycle, window -- or anyplace you would like to display it! I ask that each of you take my challenge to become a DTDF Member and join me in the Fall for the Center's Grand Opening!! I want to see you all there, so please don't let me down!! Thank you so much for your support, Suzanne" Black of the CA Delta Chambers and Visitors Bureau.
